What an adventurous night! Hours of farming, tons of cool new features, and I made a lot of new friends. I decided to do what I had never done before: stay up late for a Pirate101 update.
That evening, huge groups of fellow pirates flocked to Friar Sand in MooShu, one of the best bosses for boosting gold count. Beatriz met a lot of awesome people from Pirate101 Central and around the game. Everyone was super nice, and we farmed right up to the maximum amount of gold allowed. We even beat Friar Sand while he was still on water (thanks to a minor glitch). Guess he's not so invincible, after all. ;)

The new houses are nothing less than stunning. There is a house for each class and each one has a very unique layout and style, from the Marleybone-reminiscent Privateer house to the giant Musketeer fortress. There are furniture sets to go with each house, which are also colorful and reflect each class's style and color scheme.
I decided to get the Swashbuckler house since I am a swashbuckler, after all! The house is a tropical island, much like Skull Island, but more like Morgan LaFitte got to do an extreme makeover of the island. El Toro managed to have a say in the matter, too, as you can find a statue of him in the courtyard. The bookcases open to reveal a true pirate hero's secret trappings, the grotto below the house would make for an excellent emergency escape route and the wrecked Armada ship would be an excellent secret meeting area.

The Swashbuckler furniture is purple and orange themed, which is actually a lot better than it sounds! The bed that comes with the bedroom set of the Swashbuckler furniture pack looks really cozy and warm, and I even get a small aquarium!
In addition to the three furniture sets (bedroom, dining room and living room), there are more items right in the crown shop for gold, like fountains, wooden chairs, themed chairs and branded beds. Collect them all!
Furniture sets are 22,500 gold or 4,500 crowns while houses are 100,000 gold or 10,000 crowns each, so you could get two houses just by getting to the maximum gold amount! I decided to save my other 100,000 gold for furniture.
I can't wait to save up for more of the houses and the furniture items, as well. Each house will be more than enough to keep me busy for a long time.
And let's not forget another update that came last night... Pirate101 had the honor of hosting Ryan, an 11 year-old boy who came to visit the KingsIsle offices through the Make-A-Wish foundation. Ryan was named Pirate101 Honorary Producer and got to see what it's like to work at KingsIsle for the day. In addition, the team put together an NPC modeled after Ryan. You can see him in Skull Island at Ryan the Relentless' Yum-n-Ade stand!

If you get the chance, head on over and give him some business! He's right in between the clothing shop and weapons shop. Walk up to him and he greets you with the voice he recorded during his visit, and you can refill your health for 100 gold coins. When you're ready to be on your way, he says goodbye and wishes you a good day; a very nice sentiment that you don't get too often when you have to hang around the wharf rats and blackguards of Skull Island!
Other cool new features include gifting, housing teleporters, minigame kiosks for your home, unstitching to take apart items that were previously stitched and a new potion called the Long Term Boost Elixir, which makes your ship fuel even more efficient by giving you the ability boost for ten hours of gameplay time! Wow!
This has been one of the most exciting updates and was very much well worth the wait and all the time we all spent speculating as to what KI could have in store. Be sure to tell them just how happy you are with these new updates by heading over to the official message boards or feedback section of Pirate101 Central and leaving them a nice message.
Happy Housing and Yum-n-Ade-Drinking, Pirates!
