After the addition of class housing back in July, it seems Pirate101 is going two-for-two with this latest side update: class outfits!
In addition, size restrictions have been removed from ship equipment! What does this mean for your Pirate and their Skyway adventures? Go west- er- on, young Pirate…

Before we begin, a little Yuletide update: don't forget, Pirates- the sixth advent calendar event wasn't big enough to have its own post, but you can still click the image to the left to claim another free item from Pirate101 using the code MERRY
You have until December 18th to redeem the code and have a chance at that elusive Snowflake Eyepatch!

And if you're looking to get some crowns for those holiday weapons (just in case you aren't chosen in Johnny's giveaway, of course ;) ) or you're getting your Wizard ready for some extreme Yuletide Pack-ing, don't delay! KingsIsle is having a sale for one day only on crowns. Don't miss out!
Pirate101 announced on December 5 that "we frequently receive requests for new pirate-y looking apparel beyond the styles regularly received in Skull Island."
So what does this mean for you? You now have the opportunity to farm for gear unique to every pirate class. Some are based around the basic concept of the class while others are completely fun and out there. The best part is that this gear is recolored, so to speak, from pre-existing gear that is all level 0, AND it's dyeable, so all your Pirates can join in on the fun and customize the look. The only restriction is that all gear is only for its respective class, so Witchdoctors can't wear Musketeer gear unless they stitch it to Witchdoctor-compatible gear. Got all that?
Let's start with the Swashbuckler gear because, well, that should be obvious. ;)

The gear sticks to a very traditional Pirate style. Yarr!
The outfit is a gold-trimmed coat and a striped cloth belt over a white shirt with frilly cuffs. You get leather shoulder pads and a large belt across the chest that can be dyed any color.
The hat has pheasant and peacock feathers and a small gold skull and crossed swords pin. The hat itself is dyeable, along with the bandanna underneath it. The boys' version is pinned up on the front.
The boots, which are non-dyeable, feature fancy gold trim.

The Musketeer outfit goes for a plate armor feel with more functionality than the fanciness of the Swashbuckler outfit.
The outfit consists of shoulder and upper-arm armor, an ammo belt across the chest and utility belt across the waist and a dyeable tunic underneath.
The boots keep it simple and stylish with distinctive leather vamps and dyeable shafts.
The feather on this hat is a gradient from a dyeable color to white, meaning the base of your feather will be based on whatever you dye the hat itself, which is pinned up on one side.

This outfit is by far the most interesting twist in Privateer style yet.
The outfit is a long coat that goes from the knees all the way up to the Pirate's mouth, partially concealing it. There are plenty of buttons and armor plates to keep your Privateer safe from incoming fire!
The hat and its trim are dyeable and can look either like a traditional Marleybone tricorne or reinvented as something completely new, as seen in this picture.
The boots have knee and toe plates, and can be dyed to match the rest of the outfit.
Thank you Alric Ravensinger for letting me use this image!

Buccaneers get to have their own twist on the Three Musketeers with this new outfit.
The outfit is very Monquista-esque and has an un-dyeable chest armor plate, un-dyeable leather gloves and a matching leather skirt (the part of the coat that hangs below the waist). But not to worry- the cloth belt, sleeves and pants are dyeable.
The hat has a large brim with two feathers in the back (the girls' version is pinned up in the front) with a dyeable side band. The feathers are white no matter what colors you dye the hat and band.
The boots will probably remind you of Gaspard De Vole with those neat puffy things around your legs (sorry- I have no idea what they're called! If anyone knows I would love it if you enlightened me. They're so cool…). The boots themselves are the same un-dyeable leather as the outfit.

I mean, look at them. Everyone's seen them, right? But does anyone actually know what they're called?!

Finally, Witchdoctors take on a less tribal look and go for the opposite: a colonial style reminiscent of Harvest Hannah.
The outfit features a neat and tidy un-dyeable vest and chest belt, complete with tiny potion bottles. The un-dyeable utility belt features your very own Voodoo doll!
The hat is a cockle style with a hardy, un-dyeable belt as a side band.
The shoes are made of an un-dyeable leather while the legs and kneecaps can be dyed.

And now for the other big news piece: Ship equipment is now unrestricted by size!
Before, we used to have sails, figureheads, armor and rudders that only fit a certain kind of ship. Those days are now behind us as we enter a new age of powerful ships, so quickly, now- get to the Bazaar and equip your Bison Galleon with all those powerful items you've had to miss out on in the past!

In fact, this ship update left our enemies so demoralized that initial enemy health in deckside combat is now based on how much damage their ship took during broadside combat.
While this new feature doesn't work on unsinkable ships (those marked with a ducky that are often found in Vortexes), this will work on any other enemy ship. The less health their ship has when you board them, the less health the crew will start out with. Be wary- this will, of course, trigger powers like Turn the Tide and Elusive, so stay on your guard.

Stay tuned for more updates and Yuletide events- we still have six days to go. Happy Yuletide, Pirates!
