Many of us know the feeling- whether you've finished the main storyline and are holding out on collecting the experience from side quests when the level cap increases again, or you went all out and did every quest out there. Waiting for new content is tough, but it can be easier! Here's a list of things to get you inspired.
1. Farm for your dream outfit
Farming is a term used by gamers for defeating a single boss or type of enemy over and over until they drop an item you really want. Yes, I know, I know, farming can be tedious. But sometimes it seems much less daunting when there's nothing else to do. So get out there and pursue your dream outfit!
Many bosses, especially as you advance into the higher worlds, drop their outfits. Despite many Pirates having finished MooShu long ago, they dedicate themselves to obtaining the full outfits of bosses even now, and it is usually seen as a sort of badge of honor for holding out to collect a full set. Some of the more notable bosses who drop their outfits (or parts of them) are listed below. The links will take you to their info pages on the P101 Central wiki so you can check out which outfits interest you the most.

- Old Scratch
- Gortez
- Servus Albus (he drops his boss's items- how nice of him!)
- Santa Rana
- English Bill
- Captain Blood
- Doctor Noh
- Moo Manchu
- General Tso
- Lo Pan
- Metal Guardian
- Earth Guardian
- Commander Davis (this guy won't drop his outfit, but he jealously guards a very unique Outfit item)
- Sato
- Rooke
- Bishop
2. Become A Treasure Hunter
Have a bunch of extra Gold lying about? Maybe you've built up a lot of Gold from all that outfit farming. ;) If your Pirate has a lot of expendable income, then this item on the list is for you.
As you may have noticed, nearly every world has a housing vendor. In an update this past summer, KI secretly gave a new housing item to many of these vendors to sell to wealthy Pirates across the Spiral: treasure!
Here's a list of the vendors who sell treasure. There is one per world (except for MooShu, Valencia and Monquista- the latter two don't have a housing vendor).
Also note that Treasure sold in a higher-level world will be larger!

- Henrietta Harrod: Large Pile of Treasure
- Sergius Orata:Huge Pile of Treasure
- BONUS: Captain Gunn's Treasure (quest reward)
- BONUS: Crown Shop: Pile of Treasure (can be bought with Gold)
3. Try PvP
PvP tends to be a very split issue, especially in Pirate101. Many want ranked PvP, like in Wizard101, while many others don't want anything to do with PvP.
Before you get too tangled up in the big debate, go ahead and try it for yourself. There are two PvP halls in Skull Island, and almost every house now has a PvP ring. Challenge your friends or go up against strangers to test your strategies and the strength of your companions.
Just remember the biggest rule of PvP: have fun! It isn't fun anymore when people get upset over losing or try to say others cheated to win. Remember to just play fair and use your ignore button whenever necessary. Even if you have tried PvP in Wizard101, try it in Pirate101. I can promise you it's a completely different experience, and while I was no good at Wizard PvP and didn't really enjoy it, I found Pirate PvP to be more exciting and interesting. Of course, opinions will vary from person to person, so don't take my word for it- go try it for yourself.

4. Create A New Pirate
Sometimes, all it takes is a new perspective of the Spiral to make things interesting again. Create a new Pirate and try out a new class. Are you a Swashbuckler? Try going for their worst enemy, the Witchdoctor. Do you love Buccaneers? Try going ranged with Musketeers to give yourself a new challenge. Maybe you'll discover the other side isn't so bad after all. You might even find yourself pushing to get more Pirates leveled up before the next content update so you can experience new worlds and activities with different classes.
5. Make Friends- and Help Them
Helping others is a great way to feel good and pass the time. You might even meet your next online best friend by helping someone out!
Is someone standing in Avery's Court asking for help? Have they been standing outside a dungeon for nearly 10 minutes? Do you notice a lone ship struggling to defeat enemies out in the big empty skyway? This might be your cue to jump in and make their day. We love being helped, and helping someone out makes us feel especially good. Plus it's fun to finally get that item you really wanted from that one boss if you were helping someone else with him.
Don't be shy- jump right in and offer to help them. Just don't be too pushy about it if they decline help, or act like they need help when they actually don't.

6. Participate in Contests
Pirate101 often hosts great contests, and there are official fansites that do the same! Check out Pirate101's list of official fan sites- there's bound to be at least one contest going at any given time.
Also be sure to check out Twitter and Facebook (with parental permission, when applicable) for other contests and updates!

7. Help Out On the Pirate101 Central Wiki
Pirate101 Central is a great resource for any Pirate. You can talk with other people who play the game, get advice on the forums and make new friends.
The biggest and most reliable source for info, however, is the Central Wiki. Pirate101 is still a young game (we just recently celebrated our first birthday!), so there's a lot of info that still needs to be recorded for other Pirates in the future. If you really like collecting and archiving various types of information, this is a job for you. Central Wiki needs everyone, from people who will take pictures of items and places to those who will farm bosses and mobs for hours to record their drops.
You'll work with a friendly team of wiki masters: people who have devoted much of their free time to contributing to the wiki and keeping it polished and informative. Who knows- if you really get into this job, you might become a wiki master someday, too! If you'd like to know how to get started, check out the wiki guides.

8. Get More Involved in the Community
Feeling left out of the loop? Wanna find people with whom you can share meaningful friendships? Maybe you just want to get your Pirate101 updates ASAP so you can be the first to tell your friends. Get involved in the community of Pirate101 to get updates on everything from contests to new in-game content, all while making new friends. Wanna know some really simple ways to get started? Read on...
1. Get a Central account
Get an account over at Pirate101 Central. This will let you update the wiki, as I already mentioned, and let you post in the forums to get advice on strategies, show off your mad house decorating skills, ask questions and help answer other people's questions, and even roleplay and show off your fan creations.
2. Follow Pirate101 and KingsIsle on Facebook
Facebook is a very reliable way to keep up with new info. They're often some of the first to update with new info. You can see albums of screenshots and fan art that is submitted every month and stay updated on the ever-popular caption contests.
3. Get a Twitter account (with parental permission, if applicable)
Twitter is an extremely popular social networking site used by Pirates and their Wizard cousins to keep in contact with each other and stay updated. It's like a giant instant messaging party, and even the Pirate101 employees have been known to post from time to time. As such, it's faster than the forums and you'll get your updates lightning-quick. Other fansites will post announcements on new discoveries in the game, like a new pet drop or new crown shop items.
Also, did you know that Pirate101 players who have Twitter accounts are called Twirates? It's a combination of "Twitter" and "Pirate." If you'd like to get your name out there in the community, just write a tweet (Twitter status update) and include #Twirate. Many existing community figures will see your tagged post and welcome you to the community- and you might get a few followers, too.
4. Start blogging
Do you often find that you talk to yourself about what's happening as you play? You might enjoy blogging. Blogging is a way of writing down your ideas about something and sharing it with the rest of the internet, kind of like a journal that you're comfortable with having anyone read. Many people, including me, love reading what others have to say about the game as they play. In addition, you can write stories and show off fan creations with your blog site.
Don't worry about becoming an official Pirate101 fansite- that is often much more work and dedication than most people are willing to put forth, and that's ok! Just get your blog out to other people in the community, and you'll find that there are quite a few people who enjoy reading your thoughts on the game.
If you do, however, want to become an official fansite, be prepared to put a LOT of work into your goal! You'll have to update at least once a week with relevant info or a new chapter in your adventures, make sure you're really dedicated by buying your own domain (site address) and you must be at least 18 years old or have a written agreement that your parents are willing to screen your posts and updates to keep things appropriate. If you're willing to dedicate time and your own money, you may find that you really enjoy being an official fansite.

Phew, that was a lot of writing! Reading this post alone should keep you occupied for a while. ;) After this, though, get out there and make sure your Pirate stays in shape with various activities before the next content update arrives.
Do you have your own strategies for staying entertained until the next update?
Happy waiting, Pirates!
